So You Had a Bad Day…

Why, oh why me?  Why is everybody always needing something from me?  Why can’t people do anything for themselves.  Good ‘ol reliable Shannon.  She’ll get it done.  We can get her to do it…Blah, Blah.

Okay, so I’ve had a bad day.  It doesn’t mean I’m not still grateful.  I’m grateful I woke up this morning.  I’m grateful for the mocha frappuccino I had this morning.  I’m grateful for my quiet ride to work.  Just because I’m grateful for some things, there are alot of things I’m not grateful for.  BUT…This is a gratitude list.  I’ll save that for later.  My point is, just because I had ONE bad day, doesn’t mean I can’t see the rainbow through the rain.  I’m hangin’ on, praying for a better day. Thanks to my new friends for keeping me off the ledge.

Gratitude Letter V

Vacations.  Something I apparently need right now.

Vegetables.  I love veggies.  I eat veggies at night.  In fact, I had a veggie burger for dinner.  YUMMY.

Vegetarians.  Okay, so I’m not a vegetarian.  I’m a huge meat eater. (my be a source of my extra weight).  However, I respect anyone who can make this commitment, regardless of the reason.  GOOD FOR YOU VEGETARIANS.  I wished I could be more like you.

Variety.  Variety is the spice of life.  So they say, right?

Voting.  Good grief, man.  Don’t you know what women went through in order to vote?  I vote and I’m proud of it.  Oh, and if you don’t vote, you have no right to complain!

Vision.  I wear glasses most of the time.  My vision is still important to me.  Oh, and my mom always says that carrots give you good eyesite, so eat your carrots.  Another reason to be grateful for vegetables…

Virtue.  I have high morals.  This is important to me and hopefully is important to you.

Vitamins.  I take’em everyday!

Virginia.  It’s for lovers, ya know.  Or at least that is what the people from there say.  Did I mention my sweetheart is from Virginia?  hehe

Vinaigrette. Is there anything else out there to put on a salad?  Not to me!  Balsamic Vinaigrette!  YUMMY!

Sorry for the issues earlier in the post.  I’m home now and totally over it.  It must be the gratitude list.  See, I feel better already!

See ya tomorrow.

Thank You

Not what we give,
But what we share,
For the gift
without the giver
Is bare. ~ James Russell Lowell

I’m thankful for alot of things. I was thinking perhaps I should let people in my life know how grateful I am to have them. So, today I ran out to Target to pick up some Thank You cards. I’ve decided to send all of those close to me a thank you . To my mom, I will thank her for the advice given to me and the lessons I learned from her. My sister for her honest. She will be blunt with me, but in a nice way. If I’m wearing something that is not flattering on me, she will say so. I need more people in my life like this. I will thank my best friends for listening and not judging and for standing by my side through thick and thin-even if they do not agree with my decisions. I guess what I am saying is that I share my blog with the world (okay, the few who read it), but I’ve not actually shared my gratitude to those I am grateful for. They need a personal “thank you for being there for me”. I’m starting today. My first cards will go in the mail tonight! After all, shouldn’t I tell them how much I appreciate them and not just post it in my blog.

Letter U is a challenge. I could not come up with all 10, but here’s what I am grateful for…

Gratitude Letter U

Unity. The world would be a better place if we could all come together as one.

Unconditional Love. It is a special thing to love someone regardless of their actions or beliefs.

Uh-Ohs. Come on. We all should learn from our mistakes, right?

Utilities. Boy am I thankful to have air conditioning, heat, light, water…even if it cost me an arm and a leg to get it!

Umbrella. With all of the rain lately, the umbrella sure has come in handy!

Underwear. No going commando for me! I always wear underwear!

That’s all I got…

Rainbows and Gratitude

rainbowRainy days are so gloomy.  Here lately, it is raining more and more.  I love the sunshine.  It has made me kind of blah, if you know what I mean.  I’ve been feeling kind of yucky, and I think it is the rain.  I was griping about it this morning to my son.  He is such a doll.  He said “Mommy, without rain, we could never have rainbows”.  He was totally right.  What an incredible think to say.  So, I’m waiting for the rainbow.  In the meantime, here’s…

Gratitude Letter T

Twinkies.  Not for the reason you think.  When I was 300 lbs, I loved twinkies. n I’m so glad I gave these up.  I’m grateful I had enough willpower to get rid of this fake food.  Have you looked at the nutritionals on these things?

Twas the Night Before Christmas. I love this book.  I read it to my son every year.  I never get too old for Christmas stories.

Target. Recently, I found out from my friend Joanna that she has a Super Target.  OMG…I had no idea.  And I thought I was thankful for the regular Target.

So Grateful…

I’ve been up since 6am.  Not just awake.  I have been cleaning house, which I have neglected over the past few weeks.  I started thinking.  What is more important-having a spotless house? or spending quality time with my family?  Yep, you guessed it.  Quality time (see Gratitude letter Q)  However, I was running out of clean undies.  Laundry was a must.

It’s bedtime, but I had to work in my gratitude for today.  Ready?

Gratitude Letter S

Scott. He’s my sweetheart.  He is very good to me and I am lucky to have him in my life.  It’s nice being in love.  He’s a keeper.

Strawberries. Yummy.  My aunt Kay makes the best strawberry jam.  Strawberries are also delicious with my morning protein shake.

Starry Nights. I live in the country.  We have lots of starry nights.  When I visit other places, I notice the stars don’t shine as bright…

Be Grateful for the Small Stuff

“No duty is more urgent than that of returning thanks.” ~Unknown

Gratitude is about paying attention to the small stuff. If you have been reading my blog, you will notice that most of the things I am grateful for are the small things (with the exception of a few material things).

Today I am stressed out (and yesterday and the day before and…). It the past, it would be difficult for me to think of anything to be grateful for. Not now.

This morning I woke up thinking how special my family is to me. My son is the light of my life. I’m grateful to still have my siblings and mother. I have great brother-in law and sister-in-law. This was my first thought of the day. For that, I am very thankful.

It’s raining today. Instead of complaining, I am grateful for the rain because my lawn and flowers need the rain to grow.

Yesterday I went to work wearing two different kinds of flip flops (they were both brown). I am grateful to have shoes to wear and also thankful I had enough sense to check to make sure I had a matching pair of shoes today.

My desk is overflowing with work to do. I could complain that I have more work than I can handle. What I really feel is how thankful I am to still have a job in the economy. I love my job.

I commute over an hour to work everyday. I’m grateful that I have transportation that allows me to do it, and that I live outside the city in a beautiful rural area. I don’t mind driving that far since I have the luxury of living in the country away from the big city.

My point is…focus on the small stuff too. It is important to be thankful for the small stuff. Big things come in little packages.

Gratitude Letter R

Revival Soy Protein Chips. I love these healthy snacks! 100 calories of pure perfection. To see how much others love these chips, check out a glowing review from another blogger!

Radio. I could not live without my car radio. Really. Since I commute over an hour one way everyday (hey, that rhymes) I need music! Of course I act like a complete fool driving up the road singing…

Romance. My sweetie is so romantic. It has been almost seven years and the spark is still there. I still get goose bumps every time I think of him! Ah, to be in love…
